Speaking shortly after the match played at the Eastern Ngwa Country Club, Obingwa Local Government Area, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu commended the teams for their outstanding performance and show of their football skills and tactics despite their age and social status, urged them to sustain the tempo.
Dr Ikpeazu who noted that the match which is first of it’s kind has availed the people of Eastern Ngwa and their Umunneato brothers the opportunity to come out and socialize as well as to exercise their bodies.
The Governor represented by his chief of Staff, Dr A.C.B Agbazuere equally appreciated the President of Eastern Ngwa Country Club, Mr IK Aaron and their members for putting up such novelty match in his honour describing the act as a great sign of love and unity existing across Ukwa Ngwa land.
The Governor further harped on the need for the Ukwa Ngwa people to remain united in love and resolute in their support to the PDP led administration in the state for the overall good and development of the area, assuring the club of his continuous support.
In their separate speeches, the member representing Isialangwa North/South Federal Constituency, Chief Darlington Nwokocha, the member representing Isialangwa North State Constituency and goalkeeper of Umunneato F.C, Chief Ginger Onwusibe, Chief Christopher Enweremadu, Elder John Nwangborogwu among others expressed happiness over the performance of the teams as well as appreciated God for restoring the health of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the members of eastern ngwa country club for their efforts at championing the course of the Ukwa Ngwa people effectively.
Earlier in his speech, the President of Eastern Ngwa Country Club, Mr IK Aaron while appreciating all that turned up for the victory match in honour of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s recovery from covid-19 appreciated those who supported and contributed towards the success of the football match.
The event which attracted top government officials featured goodwill messages from the member representing Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency, Chief Uko Nkole, cutting of birthday cake in honour of the Governor’s younger brother, Mr Iheanyichukwu Ikpeazu among others.
