The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has charged the Management of Premium Soap and Detergent Manufacturers, International Equitable Association (IEA) to abide by the terms of settlement with their host community, including ensuring that youths of the community are gainfully employed at Management and other levels within the Organization.
Gov. Ikpeazu who gave the charge during a meeting with the erstwhile feuding parties at Government House Umuahia, where both parties signed a peace agreement, commended the indigenes of Umuokeyibe Umungasi for their foresight in donating their land in 1952 for the establishment of the factory, as well as the peaceful negotiations which led to settling all their lingering issues.
The Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Okey Ahiwe stressed the need for the community to ensure that the purpose for which they have resolved their differences with IEA and signed an agreement accordingly is achieved in the interest of peace and development of the area and State at large.
Earlier in his address, the Managing Director of IEA, Mr Sola Ajayi appreciated Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu for midwifing the settlement process and assured that the company is ready to resume production as soon as preliminary works were completed.
Also speaking, the spokesperson of Umuokeyibe Umungasi in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, Prince Enyinna Ubani thanked the Governor for his numerous developmental strides in the state and pledged to abide by the agreement reached by both parties.
The meeting which featured the signing of the Deed of Pleads and other additional documents by the parties also attracted the presence of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade and Investment, Chief M.C Egwu among other notable government officials.
