The Commissioner for Documentation and Strategic Communication, Mr Ugochukwu Emezue has called on the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to remain steadfast in their faith in the Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu PDP led administration in the state and continue demonstrating more patriotism by shunning divisive tendencies and bigotry.
Mr Emezue made the call when he received in audience, the State NAWOJ interim Chairperson and members of the caretaker committee who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Government House Umuahia.
The Commissioner disclosed that Gov. Ikpeazu has over the years continued to show great commitment in building a better and greater Abia where everyone is recognized and appreciated.
The Documentation and Strategic Communication Boss while noting that NAWOJ as a union is empowered to disseminate information, pointed out that his ministry as part of it’s core mandate have produced monthly magazines that captures the activities and giant strides of Gov. Ikpeazu whom he described as the great rebuilder of Abia.
Mr Emezue while pledging his ministry’s support to the committee in carrying out their mandate also harped on the need for them to deploy all necessary mechanisms towards ensuring a free, fair and credible elections that will usher in the next executive of the union.
Earlier in her address, the State interim NAWOJ caretaker committee chairperson, Comrade Mrs Oluchi Iyke-Odionyenfe said they came to intimate Mr Emezue on their mandate and line up of activities of NAWOJ including a road show slated to hold on the 8th of October, 2022, which is expected to help sensitize cum create massive awareness to Abians of the existence of NAWOJ in Abia State.
In a vote of thanks, Comrade Mrs Christiana Emezue while thanking the Commissioner for his support and warm reception accorded them, also reaffirmed their commitment to continue upholding the core values and objectives of NAWOJ which centres mainly on accountability, welfare of members and advocacy for female journalists.
