The wife of Abia State Governor,Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu has called on all relevant agencies to rise against human trafficking in the country.
Mrs Ikpeazu who made the call during the formal handover ceremony of two repatriated children by the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), zonal command Enugu,frowned at the rate of human trafficking in the country and appreciated the efforts of NAPTIP Enugu zone in rendering humanitarian services to the people .
The wife of the Governor represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,Mrs Ukachi Amala applauded the efforts of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in touching lives and promised that the state will reciprocate the kind gesture.
Handing over the girls,Miss Joy Ikechukwu 14 years old from Ohafia Local Government Area and Miss Chinaza Iheme 6 years old from Ugwunagbo Local Government Area,the leader of the group,Mrs Ifeoma Nwata who narrated the ugly experience the victims passed through in the hands of their traffickers , disclosed that some parents and guardians contribute to the rate of trafficking in Nigeria.
Mrs Nwata commended the Abia first lady,Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu for her commitment towards ensuring that Abia indigenes who were rescued are reunited with their families.
The Executive Secretary,State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Mr Jackson Sunday,among others witnessed the handover ceremony.
