by The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba has charged women journalists in the state to be at the forefront of shaping the society and guiding government in policy formulation and implementation.
Pastor Ajagba who gave the charge when he received in audience at Government House Umuahia, the Executive Members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Abia State Chapter led by the State Chairperson, Comrade Josephine Ogwo, described women as veritable tools for nation building.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor enumerated some of the achievements of the present administration within a short period to include the construction and reconstruction of roads especially in Aba the commercial nerve centre of the state, improved educational standard, adequate security, quality healthcare service delivery, regular payment of abia workers salaries and pensions, ease of doing business among others.
He used the medium to extoll the leadership of the state chapter of the NAWOJ, assuring of governments partnership and support in the projects of the association.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Relations, Sir Godson Anucha and his Ease of Doing Business counterpart, Dr Lilian Ezenwa, said the present administration is committed to the overall development of the state, adding that the state government will train a total of 2,500 women in different entrepreneurial skills before the expiration of the Governor’s first term in office.
In her address earlier, the State Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Comrade Josephine Ogwo said they came to congratulate Governor Alex Otti on his victory both at the elections and tribunal and Pastor Caleb Ajagba on his appointment by the Governor as his Chief of Staff.
Comrade Ogwo while commending Governor Otti for making the inclusion of women a top agenda in his administration with appointments of more women into positions of trust also solicited government’s support to enable them attend this years NAWOJ Delegates Conference slated to hold between the 24th – 26th of this month in Abuja.
In a vote of thanks, the secretary of the association, Comrade Sally Anyaso, appreciated the Chief of Staff for the warm reception and assured that NAWOJ would continue to partner the state government in making Abia great.
