NMCN Inducts First Set Of 67 Nurses and Midwives from Clifford University
First set of sixty-seven qualified nurses of Clifford University, Owerrinta have been inducted and issued with Certificates and Licences by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria at the Maiden Induction Ceremony of the University.
In his speech before administering Oath of Practice on the newly registered Nurses and Midwives at the Institution, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Dr. Faruk Abubakar represented by Mrs. Patricia Anunobi, emphasized that the world is looking up to nurses especially those in Nigeria to use their position in leading the change towards the attainment of the universal health coverage and sustainable development goals.
Dr. Abubakar congratulated them on their successful completion of the Bachelor of Nursing Science Programme and their success at the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Professional examinations.
Declaring open the Induction Ceremony, the Chancellor of the University, Professor Bassey Udoh tasked the young medical professionals on character and commitment, while the Vice Chancellor and President of the University, Professor Chimezie Omeonu noted that the institutions maiden Nursing and Midwifery products were well prepared for task ahead.
In their separate addresses, the Dean Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Professor Precious Omeonu and the Head, Department of Nursing Sciences, Mrs. Peace Aliche noted that the Nurses and Midwives have been equipped with the skills and expertise required to excel.
Delivering the Induction Lecture on the theme, “Building Bridges for Better Nursing Care”, Dr. Chikodili Ihudiebube of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, emphasized the need for Nurses to not only provide clinical expertise but to also offer emotional and psychological support to patients which she described as essential in promoting a holistic approach to care.
In his closing remark, the Vice President and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Clifford University, Professor Kanelechi Nwangwa appreciated the relevant bodies and individuals both within and outside the institution including Parents, the Ceremonies and Honours Committee led by Dr. Ezebunwa Ubani for their untiring efforts and roles which culminated in the success of the induction.
The event featured speech, from the best inducted Nurse and Midwife, Miss Favour Kalu on behalf of her colleagues, goodwill messages from the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Abia State Chapter and cutting of cake.
