ABIA – The State Commissioner for Sports and Youth development, Mr Nwaobilor Ananaba says Abia contingents came home with 7 gold, 12 Silver and 12 bronze medals in the just concluded National Youth Games held in Asaba, Delta State.

Mr Ananaba dropped the cheering news while answering questions from journalists during the weekly EXCO briefing by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu at government House Umuahia.

The commissioner said the Contingents were part of the talents discovered at the secondary school Sports Competition Organized by the state government at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

He equally announced that 6 Abia athletes who were successfully selected by scouts from Hungary during the Secondary school Sports Competition have been taken to Hungary for football activities even as he noted that 2 Abia footballers have been loaned to a Club in Europe.

The Sports Commissioner noted that one of the Players of Abia Angels, Miss Nmesoma have been sent to USA on approval of the Governor to advance her academic and football studies, adding that with what the state government has put in place, more champions will emerge from various sporting activities.
