The Presiding Judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Owerri Judicial Division, His Lordship, Honourable Justice I. S Galadima has made AN ORDER restraining the NATIONAL UNION OF ROAD TRANSPORT WORKERS (NURTW), ALOZIE ONUOHA, PETER ASAGWARA, EMEKA IHEKWOABA, CHIDIEBERE ONUOHA, CHINKERE ADIELE & PROMISE AKASIOBI (Defendants/Respondents) either by themselves or through their agents from harassing, interfering, disturbing and obstructing the trade union activities of Mr Chukwudi ahuama (1st Claimant/Applicant) as the Branch Chairman of the NIGERIA ASSOCIATION OF ROAD TRANSPORT OWNERS (NARTO)- 2nd Claimant/Applicant, in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of Abia State or in any other part of Abia State, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.
His Lordship further made AN ORDER restraining NATIONAL UNION OF ROAD TRANSPORT WORKERS (NURTW), ALOZIE ONUOHA, PETER ASAGWARA, EMEKA IHEKWOABA, CHIDIEBERE ONUOHA, CHINKERE ADIELE & PROMISE AKASIOBI (Defendants/Respondents) either by themselves or through their agents from harassing, interfering, disturbing, obstructing and stopping the peaceful operations of the legitimate trade union activities, business or services of Mr Chukwudi Ahuama and Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area or in any other part of Abia State, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.
Honourable Justice Galadima made the orders during a sitting in Owerri yesterday, the 30th day of September, 2021 upon hearing Valentine Igboanugwo, Esq move a Motion Ex-parte for interim injunction filed by Mr Chukwudi Ahuama and Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) as Claimants/Applicants against NATIONAL UNION OF ROAD TRANSPORT WORKERS (NURTW), ALOZIE ONUOHA, PETER ASAGWARA, EMEKA IHEKWOABA, CHIDIEBERE ONUOHA, CHINKERE ADIELE & PROMISE AKASIOBI (Defendants/Respondents).
The case was adjourned to 14th day of October, 2021 for hearing of the Motion on Notice.
Meanwhile, by the provisions of section 254C of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the National Industrial Court is the only Court authorized to handle Labour, trade Union matters.
