The Abia State Government has setup a committee for the actualization of Abia State diaspora land development.
This is followed by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s approval of a parcel of land to be set aside for investment and development by Diasporans of Abia state origin for which the Diasporan community will also have the responsibility to find the resources, design and develop the infrastructure which will include residential areas, social , health, educational, and commercial centers.
Speaking while constituting the twelve (12) man committee through a zoom in meeting, the State Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu reminded the committee that their duty is to work with the Ministry of lands to complete the acquisition process, determine the criteria for participation, nature of investment, designs for infrastructure and facilitate the execution of the Diaspora land development.
The committee according to the governor is expected to submit its recommendations by the end of the year to his office , through the Special Adviser on Diaspora matters and special duties, Dr Ngozi Ogbonna Erondu.

Nnamdi Nwankpa (Europe) -Member; Lady Caroline Kalu (Europe) -Member; Engr Emeka Ukaobasi (UK) -Member.
Others are, Hon. Emmanuel Paul Irechi -Member; Engr. Austin Anyigadi Agbara ( Asia)-Member; Attorney Barr. Sam Hart ( Nigeria) -Member; and Hon. Bernard Ekwubiri (Nigeria) -Member.
The Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Osuji, Commissioner for lands and survey, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu and Commissioner for Small and Medium Enterprise, Mr. Onyema Wachuku and Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Sir Don Ubani were present during the inauguration Via Zoom.
