Governor’s Cup: Dr. Ikpeazu Inaugurates A 7Man Committee, Give Terms Of Reference

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has reiterated his administration’s interest in sport hunting and development of budding talents among the youths to change the narratives of sports in the State to enable them excel in all sporting competitions.

The Governor made this known during the inauguration of a seven man Committee on Governor’s Cup Competition at the Government House, Umuahia.

Dr. Ikpeazu who was represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu charged the Committee to search through the state, harness and get a workable plan that will produce a team for the execution of a football competition in the State.

Governor Ikpeazu listed some of the Committee’s terms of reference to include: ensuring that they encourage effective competitions among youths in the 17 local Government Areas of the State and to ensure that all the best practices as it concerns good football competition is enhanced and practiced among others.

He expressed delight at the pedigree of members of the committee who have proven their mettle in the game of football, saying that he is convinced that they will come up with plans that would ensure that a successful football competition is held in the State.

Responding on behalf of the other members of the committee, the Chairman of the Committee, Chief Paul Chikezie Mba thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for selecting what he described as a crack team of men knowledgeable in football to manage the Governor’s Cup Competition Committee and promised to do all in their power to ensure that the competition raises the rating of Abia State in football competition through their reports and finding.

Other members of the Governor’s Cup Competition Committee include, the Commissioner for sport and  youth Development, Mr. Emeka Ikwuagwu, Mr. Ejikeme lkwunze , Chief Uba Alilionwu, Mr. Ajikegwu Onum, Johnson Nwosu and Jude Ocha who will serve as the secretary.

The Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Sir Don Ubani and other top Government Officials were present during the inauguration.
