Gov Otti Restates Commitment To Ensuring Security In Abia
The Governor, Dr Alex Otti has reassured Abians that his administration will not compromise the security of lives and property of the citizens.
Governor Otti who gave the assurance at Government House Umuahia, during a meeting with the Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante, Abia State Command, described security as the bedrock of every meaningful development.
The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba while highlighting the laudable strides made by his administration in revitalizing areas previously besieged by criminal activities into safer communities since his assumption of duty, disclosed that what is witnessed in Abia today is a reflection of the ongoing re-organization in the security architecture of the state especially in the Homeland Security.
He further used the opportunity to commend the group for the quality work they are doing in the state and harped on the need for them to continue to display high level of discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties as well as assured them of government’s support.
Also speaking, the Chief Security Officer to the Governor, CSP Ken Nwosu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commodore MacDonald Ubah RTD represented by Commander Emmanuel Ogbuehi RTD, his Energy counterpart, Engr Kachy Etolue and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, Fire and Emergency Services, Mr Chukwunenye Alajemba stressed the need for the group to have an accurate data base of her members to ascertain their numerical strength, areas and methods of operation and their chains of command in order to key them into the security architecture of the state.
In their speeches, the State Commander, Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante, Apostle Daniel Iheadindueme and the Secretary of the group, Elder Enoch Ajadu disclosed that the group through collaborative efforts with security agencies in the state have been able to dismantle criminal hideouts, arrest kidnappers and rescue kidnapped victims, recovered numerous stolen vehicles and motorcycles among others.
They also used the opportunity to applaud Governor Otti on his numerous infrastructural strides in all nooks and crannies of the state and appealed to the state government to provide them with necessary logistics and operational vehicles to enable them continue to discharge their duties effectively.
In a vote of thanks, the Arochukwu Commander of the group, Mr Chidike Nwagwu thanked the Governor for creating the right environment for security agencies in the state to operate in synergy and promised to redouble their efforts in ensuring that Abia remains crime free.
