ABIA – Governor Alex Otti has assured investors of his support to ensure establishment of industries for the development of Abia.

Governor Otti gave the assurance while receiving in audience a delegation of MUNEC Nigeria Limited who paid him a business visit. He congratulated the team on its move to contribute to what his administration is doing in Abia state, saying that his government places premium on creating conducive atmosphere for all.

“The essence of governance is to create enabling environment for businesses to flourish, industries to be set up and the social welfare for the people. And everything we are doing can one way or the other be attributed to these things I mentioned”.

“For us, we will continue to work hard to make this place safe and secure, to provide infrastructure and ensure that the welfare of our people occupies a pride of place for investments like this to come in”.

“The two industries you’ve talked about are industries that have done well elsewhere and even here; the modern ceramics used to be one of the most flourishing industries in the South East before the problem they had in the past”. Gov. Otti noted.

The Governor thanked them for their decision to establish a flour mill and ceramic industry in Abia and described it as a welcome development. He said, the government is excited about it and noted that when realized, it would not only provide employment opportunities for the youths but increase revenue base of the state.

“We are excited about having these two industries coming to our State, not just for job creations like you said. It’s important for job creation but also productivity, the gross domestic product of the state would improve with this kind of activities coming into the State”. Gov. Otti stressed.

Speaking earlier, the coordinator of the group and CEO of MUNEC Nigeria Limited, Mr. Moses Nwankpa said that they are proposing to establish a world class flour Mill and a Ceramic Industry in Ovungwu, Isialangwa South LGA and have acquired acres of land enough to build the factories in Isialangwa South LGA. He disclosed that they have sources from Florida, United States, who would provide the funds but needs support from the government in form of Comfort Letter to enable them get the funds.

While revealing that the raw materials for the factories would be sourced locally, he added that if they succeed in establishing the factories, the factories would create job for about six thousand persons in the State.

Contributing, the Process Engineer of the company, Uzoma Collins said they have conducted research and found out that the establishment of the flour mill and ceramic industry in Abia is feasible and solicited the support of the state government from the construction stage to production stage assuring that the establishment of the industries would take the youths from the streets into productive ventures.

His Royal Majesty, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa and Eze Sampson Jinanwa were part of the delegation while the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu among other government officials were present at the visit.
