ABIA – The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba has called on the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to maintain its advisory role across all tiers of government, emphasizing the importance of fiscal efficiency and identifying new avenues for revenue generation.

Speaking at Government House Umuahia, Pastor Ajagba, who welcomed a delegation from the commission led by Mrs. Elizabeth Okafor, the Administration Director and Coordinator of the Abia and Imo offices, urged the commission to periodically review the revenue allocation formula to ensure it aligns with evolving realities and maintains fairness.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor highlighted the current administration’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and a clear vision under Governor Dr. Alex Otti, stating that recent developments in the state reflect the Governor’s dedication to transforming Abia for the better.

He congratulated Mrs. Okafor on her new role and assured her of the administration’s support to help the commission fulfill its mandate.

In her address, Mrs. Elizabeth Okafor expressed her intent to foster a strong relationship with the state government and seek partnerships that would enhance fiscal efficiency and boost revenue.

She praised Governor Otti’s achievements, particularly in infrastructure development, and encouraged him to continue his efforts.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of RMAFC, Cecelia Emerue reiterated the commission’s responsibility in overseeing revenue distribution from the Federation Account, setting appropriate remuneration for political officeholders, and ensuring the integrity of the nation’s revenue streams.

The visit was attended by several top government officials, including Dr. Anthony Nwaubani, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Finance.
