Engr. Emetu Tasks Peace Corps On Improved Security
ABIA – The Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has commended the State Command, Peace Corps of Nigeria for its commitment towards the establishment of the Legislative Bill of the Agency by the National Assembly pending its subsequent assent by the President.
Speaking during a familiarization visit by the State Commandant, Mr Agwu Eni and his team in his office, Engr. Emetu said that the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti in a quest for zero tolerance for dilapidated buildings in schools across the state is constructing and retrofitting School buildings and other infrastructures to provide a conducive environment for learning.
The Deputy Governor encouraged the Agency to continue in its effort to help government create a peaceful and secured environment in the state.
In his remarks, the state Commandant, Peace Corps Nigeria, Mr. Agwu Eni disclosed that the Peace Corps which is presently a non-governmental organization has the core mandate of securing schools especially during examinations and general elections.
Mr. Eni, also encouraged Abia youths to join the Agency now that the process is easy in order to secure the state’s quota at the National level.
The visit attracted the presence of the State Deputy Commandant Administration, The Rev. Onyirimba Ebenezer among others.
