The PDP flag bearer for Obingwa West State Constituency in the 2023 general elections, Elder Erondu Uchenna Erondu has called on Abians and Nigerians at large to embrace agriculture as an alternative means of income.
Elder Erondu who made the call at his Mgboko Umuaru countryhome in Obingwa Local Government Area while show casing his bountiful harvest of over ten thousand (10,000) yams to some traditional rulers in the LGA, described agriculture as the way to go in other to curb the harsh economic challenges occasioned by the covid-19 pandemic.
The Obingwa West State Constituency Hopeful while appreciating God for the blessing of a bountiful harvest during this years farming season also enjoined youths to key into different agricultural programs in other to boost food sufficiency across the nation.
In his words, “I decided to try my hands on yam cultivation following the advice of my friend after the covid-19 pandemic and the shortage of food stuffs across the country. I planted ten thousand (10,000) yam seedlings just across my compound with the help of my friend and kinsmen and to the glory of God, the harvest was massive. That’s why I invited some traditional rulers and my friends to join me in thanksgiving to God Almighty for his blessings.”
In their speeches, the President, Ukwa La Ngwa Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Nwabiaraije Eneogwe and the Chairman, Obingwa Traditional Rulers Council, Eze O.J Ananaba commended Elder Erondu Uchenna Erondu for always being at the forefront of reaching out to the less privileged in the area as well as being a huge source of inspiration especially to the youths.
The traditional rulers while describing Elder Erondu as the right candidate for Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, attributed the quantum and quality of yams harvested by him as a show of his commitment and passion in making a difference in life and setting a pace for Abia youths.
The event which featured prayers for Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Prof. Uche Ikonne, Elder Erondu Uchenna Erondu and all PDP candidates also attracted the presence of PDP major stakeholders amongs other notable personalities.
