EID EL-FITR CELEBRATION: Gov Otti Felicitates Muslim Community

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has felicitated with Muslims in the state on the occasion of Eid-El-fitr celebration, describing the muslim Community as integral part of his administration.

Speaking when he received a delegation of the Abia State Muslim council who paid him the traditional Salah homage in his country home, Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Governor Otti charged them to reach out to the less privileged during this festive period.

He congratulated them for successfully completing the Ramadan fast thus coming out healthier and stronger, noting that the Ramadan is period for denying oneself the pleasures of life.

Dr Otti thanked the Muslims for their support and solidarity during the last governorship election in the state and promised to continue to make them and the people of the state proud through quality leadership.

The Governor, who assured the Muslim community in the state that his government will not discriminate against them, said he will continue to relate with them as brothers and sisters and pledged to investigate the complaints made by the Muslims and encouraged them to bring to his attention issues affecting them.

In an address, the Chief Imam of Abia state, Sheik Ali Ukiwo said the 30 days fasting is an exercise through which muslims embark on to seek for forgiveness from Allah and amend their ways thereafter.

He thanked Allah for using Governor Alex Otti to Institute peace and security in Abia and for restoring hope to Ndi-Abia through purposeful leadership.

Sheik Ukiwo used the forum to correct the injustice done to them by reallocating to private people plots of land allocated to the Muslim community in Umuahia ten years ago for burial ground, regretting that the reallocation was done without notice nor a refund of the money already committed.

“We give thanks to Almighty Allah for answering our prayers, because right now peace and serenity are being enjoyed in Abia state”.

“We also thank Allah the Almighty for using you to bring back hope to Abians after losing such hope for over 20 years”

“We pray Allah the Almighty to continue to strengthen you,aide you, guide you, protect you and your family and grant you more good spirit in human services”, Sheik Ukiwo stated.
