BREAKING: NSCDC Operatives Apprehends Five Suspected Oil Vandals At Ukwa West LGA

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abia State Command has arrested five suspected vandals operating at Obiakpu Asa in Ukwa West LGA of Abia State.

Speaking before parading the suspects at Obiakpu, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr Usman fadarai said the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence.

Mr Fadarai disclosed that two of the suspects who earlier absconded while being interrogated along Enugu/PortHarcourt expressway conveying some quantities of crude oil in a Toyota Camry car gave his men a link to the forest where the nefarious activities were taking place.

The commandant who vowed that the NSCDC will not rest on its oars to ensure that operators of illegal refineries in the state are kept at bay, described their act as economic sabotage capable of truncating the food security programme of the federal government.

While appealing to traditional rulers, community leaders and stakeholders to assist the security agencies with credible information that will enhance their operations, Mr Fadarai reiterated NSCDC Commandant General’s resolve to deal with any person involved in bunkering activities.

Our correspondent reports that six vehicles used for the bunkering activities by the suspects have been impounded while investigation has been intensified to arrest the remaining suspects.
