The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has called on the people of ngwa extraction to provide a veritable platform for harnessing positive ideas and resources towards the socio-cultural and developmental interests of Ngwaland.
Dr Ikpeazu who made the call at the 2020 annual summit of Ngwa Patriots Forum (NPF), held in Umuahia, stressed the need for them to press towards the sustenance of their heritage and proper placement in the scheme of things in the society through proactive, progressive and responsive philanthropic service.
The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr A.C.B Agbazuere while commending the Executive of Ngwa Patriots Forum for organizing the annual summit as well as their quantum of Solidarity and support towards his administration enjoined them to remain united in love and worthy ambassadors of peace.
Earlier in his welcome address, the President of Ngwa Patriots Forum, Chief Uzoma Ihuka while enumerating some of the aims and objectives of the forum including supporting intellectual research efforts and publications that will enhance the visibility of ngwa land and people, supporting youth development and self actualization programs, supporting the education of indigent students through various educational initiatives and foundations among others, appreciated God for restoring the health of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, pointing out that a people without a sense of it’s history is a nation adrift.
In his opening speech, the Chairman on the occasion and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Elder Chibuike Nwokeukwu while describing the ngwa people as an indivisible entity with great potentials called on them to remain united, focused and steadfast in championing the course of the ngwa nation effectively.
In a lecture on the theme of the summit, “The Journey Of The Ngwa Man”, a guest speaker and Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor Ikechi Mgboji while recounting the political journey and transition of power in the state from 1999 till date described the election of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu as the first Governor from Ngwa extraction as divinely ordained by God harped on the need for them to be their brothers keeper as well as join hands with the Governor in uplifting and repositioning the state on the part of greatness.
The summit featured goodwill messages from the member representing Isialangwa North State Constituency, Chief Ginger Onwusibe, traditional rulers from Ngwaland among others.
