The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief OKEY AHIWE has described Prof. Uche Ikonne’s Governorship ambition in the state as one that should not be toyed with by the Ngwa nation and Abians in general.
Chief AHIWE who disclosed this at Abia State University Uturu during the 2022 NGWA DAY CEREMONY CUM INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS OF THE FEDERATION OF NGWA STUDENTS (FNS), urged them to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and ensure they vote massively for PDP candidates at the polls.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor represented by a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, MR VICTOR NWOKOCHA while describing the NDI NGWA as peace loving people known for their hospitality and rich cultural heritage also enjoined the students to continue to make honesty, focus and hardwork their watchword.
He further commended the leadership of FNS ABSU Chapter for using the association to unite Ngwa Students as well as harped on the need for them to shun acts capable of jeopardizing their future.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman on the occasion and Director of the Institute of Computer Studies ABSU, DR NNAMDI NWAEZE called on the students to always appreciate and be proud of their Ngwa origin and rich cultural heritage which has distinguished them from other clans.
In his welcome address earlier, the President of the Federation of Ngwa Students, Abia State University Chapter, MR AKOMAS UGONNA described the theme of the event ” POLITICAL UNITY IN NGWA LAND: A PANECEA FOR THE LIBERATION OF THE NGWA NATION” as apt considering the differences, clash of political interest and disagreement amongst youths from Ngwa extraction.
The event featured paper presentation by the President, National Association of Abia State Students, COMRADE BETHEL AGBARA, cutting of the induction cake, installation of Chieftaincy titles, goodwill messages amongs others.
