Abuja Residents Hold Candlelight Procession For Mohbad

Lagos State born Ilerioluwa Aloba died last week in a health facility where he was receiving treatment in what many have described as questionable circumstances.

The death of 27 year old Mohbad has continued to generate numerous conversations among Nigerians with many taking to the streets to demand justice.

To further amplify the calls for justice, Abuja residents on Friday night gathered at the Unity Fountain for the candlelight procession and concert a day after Lagos residents held a similar event.

The participants including Nollywood actress, Tonko Dikeh who were mostly dressed in white tops, danced to tunes from late Mohbad’s songs and had placards with several inscriptions to drive home their message.

It will be recalled that before now, there have been protests in some cities across the nation, mostly young people, demanding justice for the Peace coroner.

Friday’s candlelight gathering comes just about a day after police authorities exhumed the singer’s body from his graveside in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State 8 days after he was buried.

While an autopsy has since been carried out, the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command Benjamin Hundeyin said the result is being awaited.
