ABSU Set to Join League of Best Academic Programs in the World – Prof. Ogbulu
The Vice Chancellor, Abia State University Uturu, Professor Onyemachi Ogbulu says the Nursing Sciences of the University is set to join the league of best academic programs in the world.
Professor Ogbulu who was speaking during the 10th Induction/swearing in ceremony of Graduating Nurses of Abia State University Uturu held at the University Auditorium also reiterated that the department of Nursing Sciences has been upgraded to a full faculty with different academic programs.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the Graduands on the success achieved as well as their Parents and Guardians for their support and thanked the Governor and Visitor to the University Dr Alex Otti for his continued support which has helped in repositioning the University for better.
Also speaking, the Registrar/Secretary General, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Alhaji Faruk Umar Abubakar commended Abia State University for being in the forefront in producing Competent and quality Nurses for the country revealing that Nigerian Nurses have been adjudged one of the best globally and announced an increase in the quota of admission for ABSU Faculty of Nursing.
In their speeches, the Provost College of Medicine and Health Sciences Professor S.N.Onwere represented by the Deputy Provost Professor Boniface Ekpo, Dean Faculty of Health Sciences Professor Chris Timothy and the Acting Dean Faculty of Nursing Sciences Dr Peace Okoroafor said the Nurses have been taken through theories, practicals and character moulding and are now qualified and licensed to go into the society to practice.
In her Valedictory speech, the best graduating student, Judith Njoku and another Inductee Ngozi Israel Amanze expressed gratitude to God for a successful academic journey as well as the University community and their parents for moulding them into responsible and useful citizens and promised to keep the flag flying.
Highpoints of the induction ceremony which was attended by many dignitaries- including a Former Commissioner for Cooperatives and Rural Development Chief Israel Amanze were the administration of induction oath and the presentation of awards to best performing Graduands while a total of 217 Nurses were inducted.
