by Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abia State Command, has arrested ten suspected criminals for their alleged involvement in illegal mining activities at different mining sites in umuahia.
Speaking while parading the suspects in umuahia, the State Commandant, NSCDC, Mr. Usman Affaradarai said their arrest was in compliance to the directives of the Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi to end all the activities of illegal miners in all mining sites across the country.
He disclosed that his command had profiled all the mining sites in Abia State with a view to identifying the approved mining sites and warned the illegal miners that it is no longer business as usual.
The commandant while advising stakeholders in the sector to ensure that they operate with valid license and approved mining sites, made it clear that the warning has become necessary to block the revenue losses and prevent environmental hazards associated with illegal mining activities in the state.
He assured that the suspects who were arrested at Azumiri Umuezeama in Umuahia North LGA will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
