Abia State and LGA Elections: Time to Show Solidarity – Engr Bob Ibeneme
As we approach election season in Abia State, it’s crucial to recognize the challenges that accompany this time.
Elections test loyalties, spark conflicts of interest, and often amplify gossip and character assassination, particularly from those who view others as threats in their pursuit of personal gain.
Since the beginning of our struggle to liberate Abia State in 2015, many have stood by Dr. Alex Otti, motivated by the desire to free Abia from the grip of perpetual politicians’ intent on exploiting the populace.
Dr. Alex Otti, viewed as an outsider, offered hope for real change. By God’s grace and determination, we achieved significant progress in 2023.
However, the truth is that Abia State is not yet where we aspire for it to be. We owe much of our progress to the hard work of Dr. Otti and his dedicated team.
With the Supreme Court’s decision granting power to local governments, it’s imperative that we rally behind Dr. Alex Otti once more.
The LGA chairpersons will play a vital role in the success of this administration, and it is our responsibility as stake holders to support Dr. Otti in making the best choices for our state’s future.
To ensure the success of this administration, we must prioritize the collective good over personal ambitions for political office. Now is not the time to advocate for candidates based on loyalty to a leader or regional affiliations.
Instead, we should focus on credibility, capacity, competence, commitment, and creativity.
When leaders promote candidates solely based on personal connections or loyalty, we lose sight of our shared goals and hinder the administration’s progress.
Let us show solidarity with our leader Dr. Alex Otti. He knows his constituents and their capabilities; he is best positioned to select the most qualified candidates in Labor party to be our flag bearers for the upcoming LGA elections.
Together, we can foster a brighter future for Abia State.
