The Executive Chairman of Umuahia South LGA of Abia State, Engr. Benson Humphrey has been chosen to chair this Years 2022 World Tourism Day Celebration in the State.
Briefing the Umuahia South Council LGA Boss on the decision of the event’s steering committee in his office in Umuahia South LGA headquarters, the General Manager, Abia State Tourism Board, Princess Onyekachi Atulomah said the decision is based on his support towards the upliftment of the tourism industry in the state as well as his love for tourism sites especially the ancient Amakama wooden cave in the area.
Queen Atulomah noted that the event which is slated to hold on the 25th – 27th of September, 2022 in Umuahia tends to showcase the rich cultural heritage and beautiful tourist sites across the state with the sole aim of attracting more local and foreign investors into the state.
In her words, “We’re pleased to inform you that the planning committee for this years World Tourism Day Celebration in Abia State have painstakingly chosen you to be the chairman of the 2022 World Tourism Day Celebration as well as present a speech on how best to revamp the tourism sector in Abia State cum possible ways the tourism industry can better the lots of Abians and increase the state’s IGR.
The Abia Tourism Board boss who also visited the State ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Isialangwa South L.G.A, Comrade Iyke Anyatonwu in company of members of the planning committee, equally notified him that he has been selected to chair the “Old School Day” segment of the event on the 26th of September.
She further used the medium to solicit for his support and that of his colleagues across the state towards achieving the objectives of the programme.
Contributing, the chairman of the 2022 World Toursim Day Steering Committee, Comrade Digmba Ejieke who x-rayed the mindset of the citizens as it affects tourism, where people would opt for Cross River and Imo States, pointing out that the event is a way of telling the repackaged Abia story to the world.
In their respective response, the ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Isialangwa South L.G.A, Comrade Iyke Anyatonwu and his counterpart from Umuahia South LGA, Engr. Benson Humphrey appreciated the efforts made by the State Tourism Board within the period under review and equally appreciated Hon. Atuloma and the Year 2022 World Tourism Day Steering Committee for considering them to chair the events, pleaged to support the event
