ABIA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY SERVICE COMMISSION: House Screens And Confirms Members
The Abia State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the Chairman and members of the State House of Assembly Service Commission sent to her by the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
The Commission which is to be Chaired by Chief Uchechukwu Maduako has Mr Destiny Nwagwu, Chief Chijioke Nwachukwu, Mr Chiemela Wagbara, Lady Grace Ibe, Dr Steve Ochonma and Mr Ezechimere Uhuoma as members.
Announcing the decision after the nominees appeared before the House for screening, the Speaker, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa commended the Governor for constituting the Commission and urged the member as pioneers, to use their vast experiences to place the Commission on the right pedestal.
The House at Plenary passed into law H.A.B 9: A Bill for a Law to establish Colleges of Nursing Sciences owned by faith based and private establishments in the state and for other related purposes.
The House also took the second reading and debates of H.A.B.15: The Abia State Security Trust Fund Bill, and committed same to its Committee of the whole for further considerations.
On the Matter of Urgent Public Importance brought before the House by the member representing Ugwunagbo State Constituency, Mr Chijioke Uruakpa on the unauthorized roadside parking of trucks and lorries along the Aba – Port Harcourt stretch of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway which constitute nuisance and cause gridlock and accidents on the road, the House acceded to the prayers of the mover of the motion and further directed its Committee on Transport to liase with the Commissioner for Transport with a view to addressing the matter and report back to the House.
The House also received and adopted the report of its joint Committee on Finance, Trade, Commerce and Industry on H.A.B.7: The Abia State Local Content Bill, before adjourning plenary for today (Wednesday 26/6)24).
