Abia State government says, it is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Communication and Digital Economy to enable Abians benefit from the three million skills acquisition training programme under the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu who disclosed this while addressing Journalists on the outcome of this week’s edition of Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, said that the state Ministry of Digital Economy and SME is creating a one stop shop to streamline processes for NAFDAC, CAC, SON in order to enhance business prospects and ease of doing business for companies in Abia state especially SMEs.
The Information Commissioner made public that Governor Alex Otti has supported the registration of over 600 businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), pointing out that the gesture was to support small and medium scale entrepreneurs in Abia who before now could not register their businesses.
Prince Kanu also announced that the state ministry of education will on Tuesday this week, embark on inspection and evaluation of private Schools in the state to ensure they meet required standard.
The Information Commissioner noted that Exco frowned at the lack of interest exhibited by Abia youths in the ongoing recruitment exercise of the Nigerian Police and harped on the need for the youths to make career in the security formation of the country to end perceived marginalization of the south East region.
Throwing more light on the NITDA programme, the Commissioner for Digital Economy and SME, Mr Mathew Ekwuribe said the federal government acquisition programme called 3 MTT, will be in phases, adding that the first phase will focus on 12 digital skills such as Cyber security, game development, Cloud computing, Beef ups and AI/ Machine language.
Others include; Data science, product management, quality assurance, data analysis / visualization, UI / US Designs and software development.
According to him, the ministry is in partnership with google to train Abia youths while arrangements have been made to google register streets and roads in the state to improve ease of doing business.
Contributing, the DG Abia Orientation Agency, Pastor Dike Nwankwo frowned at the activities of street traders in Aba, noting that government will soon commence enforcement on the ban of street trading in the state.
