Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has expressed the state’s willingness to collaborate with the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to fast-track the establishment of the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park (AIIP) in Owaza, Ukwa West Local Government Area.

Governor Otti reaffirmed the state’s readiness during a meeting with a delegation from the NCDMB, led by its Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Ogbe, who paid a working visit to the Governor.

Crystal News had earlier this year reported that Governor Otti presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the AIIP, which saw attendance from Federal Government representatives, industry leaders, and financiers.

“We have created an enabling environment as a private-sector-driven government,” Governor Otti stated. “We know the role of government is to support and grow businesses.

That’s why we’ve already secured nearly 2,000 hectares of land and issued a Certificate of Occupancy to AIIP.”

He further explained that compensation for the original landowners has been arranged, assuring, “If they haven’t received it yet, it will be provided soon, as the funds are available.”

“We’re delighted to partner with you and will ensure the project progresses successfully.

“A formal request will be sent in the coming days, but regardless, we will continue our work to keep the project moving forward,” the Governor assured.

Governor Otti expressed his gratitude to Engr. Ogbe and his team for their commitment to the project’s success.

In his response, Engr. Felix Ogbe commended Governor Otti for his proactive efforts, noting that in some states, industrial parks are established without much government involvement, but Abia’s case stands out due to the state’s active leadership.

He voiced optimism about the project’s success.

“As promised, I’m here to see how we can partner with the state on this initiative. Once I receive your proposal, I will present it to the Board for discussion,” said Engr. Ogbe, indicating strong interest.

He added, “Once I meet with the Governing Board, I will return to share our position and intended actions.”

Earlier in his presentation, the CEO of the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park, Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu highlighted the park’s strategic location near abundant gas resources in Owaza, and its potential to generate significant socioeconomic benefits, including the creation of thousands of jobs for both Abia and Nigeria.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment Promotions, Chief Green Amankwe, Principal Secretary and Chief Strategy Officer to the Governor, Mr Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu among other top government officials were present during the visit.
