ABIA: Gov Otti To Flag Off Reconstruction Of 3.5KM Osisioma-Ekeakpara Road Wednesday
Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti will Wednesday this week, flag off the reconstruction of the 3.5km Osisioma-Ekeakpara road which is a major gateway into the Osisioma Industrial complex.
The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu who stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, said that the road equally leads to the NNPC depot, Osisioma.
He equally announced that the Governor will same day, flag off the reconstruction of the 2.5km Umuode- Bakassi road Aba which has lots of potential to spark off economic development of the state.
“Let me start by informing us that his Excellency, Dr Alex Otti will be flagging off the 3.5 Kilometer Osisioma-Ekeakpara road Aba on Wednesday this week”.
That road is a very important one because it is the infrastructural facility that will drive the Osisioma Industrial Complex which the state government has started rebuilding, so on Wednesday, his excellency will be at Aba to flag off the road off”.
“On the same day, there’s another road in Aba that would be flagged off and that is the Umuode-Bakassi road. That road is a 2.5 kilometer road. Of course you know these roads speak to the economic development agenda of the state, because the government believes that infrastructural facilities, particularly road infrastructure will provide an enabling environment for business to thrive”.
The information Commissioner also announced that the DG of National Food and Drug Law Administration and Control ( NAFDAC), Professor Moji Adeyeye will be in the state on the 15th of this month on a working visit where she would first call on the Governor and thereafter meet with stakeholders and the business community.
He said that the state government will during the period provide free one hundred and fifty CAC Business certificates to Abians to complement the twenty five pieces to be provided by the NAFDAC.
“Let me inform us that the Director General of NAFDAC is billed to visit the state on the 15th of May 2024. It’s an official visit and as it’s customary, during the visit, the DG will pay a working visit to His Excellency”.
“More importantly, she will meet with stakeholders in the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises sector particularly those involved in food, health supplements and production in various medications”.
“NAFDAC has promised that they would provide 25 free CAC registrations and certifications. The State government will compliment that effort by providing 150 free CACs registrations for Abians”, Prince Kanu stated.
The information Commissioner also spoke on The “Dig Once Policy” recently signed for full operation in the state by Governor Alex Otti.
The “Dig once policy” was recently signed by the Governor on the 1st of May 2024. Of course that policy mandates all Internet service providers and mobile network operators to immediately seize all excavations on our roads and to deploy five optics until an SPV is selected to harmonize the process and oversee the implementation of that policy.
“There’s this drive towards ensuring that there’s compliance with certain standards in all those fields to ensure that those who produce the things that people consume stick to certain standards to safeguard the lives of our people”.
The Commissioner for Digital Economy and SMEs, Mr Mathew Ekwuribe, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma and the Director General of Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA), Mr Uche Ukeje were part of the briefing.
