Gov Otti Inaugurates Nine Man Digital Economy And SME Advisory Committee
Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has inaugurated a nine man Digital Economy and SME Advisory Committee to the Ministry of Digital Economy and SME Development with a charge on the members to come up with innovative ideas that will help drive digital economy in the state effectively.
Speaking shortly after inaugurating the committee members at Government House Umuahia, Governor Otti harped on the need for them to assist in the creation of state policy for digital economy and SME development.
The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba while identifying technology as critical to the overall development of society, urged them to create programs that will help in the incubation, growth and success of start-ups and SMEs in the state.
The State Chief Executive who congratulated the committee members on their successful selection, reminded them that they were painstakingly selected based on their pedigree while assuring them of government’s support in carrying out their assignment effectively.
Responding, the Commissioner for Digital Economy and SME and chairman of the Digital Economy and SMEs Advisory Committee, Mr Mathew Ekwuruibe who noted that Abia is blessed with numerous potentials, disclosed that they are not going to focus only on trainings but also on providing solutions that will help drive the economy effectively in the digital space in line with the vision of Governor Otti.
Mr Ekwuruibe thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve and promised that they will not betray the confidence reposed in them.
Other members of the committee include, Mr Tochukwu Chukwueke, Vice Chairman, Mr Nnanna John, Dr Ugboaja Samuel, Rev Father Ikenna Nwagbara, Mr Psalms Kalu, Dr Odikwa Ndubuisi, Ojum Ngozi and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Economy and SME, Miss Elizabeth Chijioke who will serve as secretary of the committee.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Digital Economy and SME Development, Mrs Justina Eboh among other top government officials witnessed the inauguration.
