by Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has commissioned the newly reconstructed Udeagbala road in Aba with a firm promise to speed up economic growth of the state through road infrastructure.
Governor Otti who performed the exercise amidst cheers from the people of Aba, assured that all entry points into Aba will be beautifully reconstructed in a way befitting of a fast developing state.
While describing the road and others his government is doing in Aba as strategic to the economic rejuvenation of Aba, the economic nerve centre of the state, Dr Otti said that the journey for a new Abia has just begun.
The Governor, who noted that the road serves as an alternative from the Enugu Port-Harcourt road into the busy Aba-Owerri road and to ABSUTH, lauded the construction company that handled the protect, CRANEBURG for a job well done. He also commended the construction company for speeding up the project leading to its timely completion and urged them to replicate same quality and speed on the ongoing 6 – lane Okpara Square – Ossah express – Tower road Umuahia.
In his speech, “The completion of the projects would contribute to the revitalisation of the economy of the state, as my administration is building solid and durable infrastructure.”
“Many road projects in Aba were awarded to inexperienced construction companies in the past, my administration was careful in selecting tested civil engineering firms for the three roads.”
“The road projects were part of my campaign promises to the residents and investors in Aba. I want to assure you that no part of Abia State would be neglected in the ongoing road construction and rehabilitation program” he said.
The roads commissioned on Sunday by the governor include; MCC by Old Express Road, Umuimo Road and Udeagbala Road, which is a bypass that crosses through the Abia State University Teaching Hospital and evacuates traffic from the busy roads in Aba.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti said the road is one of the best done with drains on both sides to discharge water straight to Aba river.
Speaking on behalf of residents and other business owners in the area, an industrialist, Chief john Udeagbala thanked God for using Governor Otti to revive businesses in Aba and assured him of their prayers at all times.
Crystal News correspondent reports that the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa, Abia State Chairman of Labour Party, Elder Ceekay Igara, members of the state executive council, traditional rulers, the Aba business class and host of others witnessed the ceremony.
