The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed his readiness to commission the newly constructed 9.3 Osokwa-Aro -Umuejie-Omoba road, a link road leading to major economic zones of Osisioma, Isialangwa North and South L.G.A’s of the state in two weeks time.
Governor Ikpeazu who was inspecting the newly constructed road in continuation of the state wide inspection and commissioning of Project tagged”Kinetic Abia” restated that his vision and mission in road construction is to bequeath road projects that will outlive his administration and many others that will come after him.
The Governor said that the road project is an emotional one for him in the sense that the road is a strategic economic gateway for the people of Osisioma, Isialangwa North and South and for the evacuation of their farm produce.
He said that the road also serves as alternative route into the Osisioma North state constituency, the food basket of the state and other communities within the area.
Governor Ikpeazu charged the project contractor to ensure a standard drainage system on the road as well as maintain the level of quality so far as all the roads done so far by his administration are still standing without potholes and Urged the youths of the area to keep cooperating with the contractor through out the period of the project.
Speaking while conducting the Governor round the project, the commissioner for works, Dr Bob Ogu noted that a total of 8 kilometers have been completed on the road while the remaining one point three kilometer which has been stonebased will be asphalted for commissioning in two weeks time.
Also Speaking the contractor handling the Project of the Rock Waters Integrated Services said that two thousand meters of drainage have been done on the road so far, assuring that the remaining work will be completed for commissioning in two weeks time.
In their remarks, the T.C Chairman of Osisioma Ngwa L.G.A Dr Ikechukwu Nwabeke and his Isialangwa South Counterpart Mr Nkem Onwubiko described the quality of the road construction as the first of its kind in the area and prayed God to keep sustaining the Governor through out his tenure and beyond.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu equally inspected the ongoing Ojike bypass road Aba as well as the almost completed Osisioma Flyover.
