The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Dr A.C.B Agbazuere has stressed the need for a synergy between the Executive arm of government and the media for a successful democracy/democratic culture in Nigeria.
Dr Agbazuere who made this known while delivering a lecture at the one year anniversary of Real FM in Aba commended the Nigerian press for continuously serving as a medium for structuring the political landscape of the nation, an avenue for agitation and proper political leadership.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor who spoke on the topic, “The Role Of Closer Synergy Between The Executive Arm Of Government And The Media In Achieving Sustainable Multi-Party Democratic Culture In Nigeria” reiterated that any journalist that collects money for gratification from a politician to undermine or blackmail another politician has made himself an unpatriotic media man and thus does not qualify as one of those who should synergize with anybody to advance democracy adding that any politician whose interest in politics alone is only to amass wealth for himself is a misfit in the context of the needed synergy in growing our democratic culture.
He further used the medium to commend the founder of Real FM aba and member representing Ikeduru State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Ambassador Uche Ogbuagu who despite his tight legislative schedules finds time to monitor the stations programs as well as infuse his ideas and experience in media practice enjoined him to sustain the tempo.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Station Manager Real FM Aba, Sir Obinna Oduwuike stated that the stations programs are tailored towards uplifting the downtrodden, the less privileged and the physically challenged pointing out that the station parades the assemblage of an array of focused and determined media professionals.
The event which featured the cutting of Real FM anniversary cake, presentation of merit awards to the wife of the Governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu, Dr A.C.B Agbazuere among other awardees attracted the presence of the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Dr Comos Ndukwe, members of Imo State House of Assembly among other top government officials.
