JUST IN: MCN Honours Gov. Ikpeazu With The Outstanding Leadership Award

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie lkpeazu has been honoured with a Grand Outstanding Leadership Award by the Methodist Church Nigeria in recognition of his initiatives in Security Matters and Creation of enabling environment for business to thrive in the State.

Dr lkpeazu speaking after receiving the award from the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Samuel Kanu  Uche during the sixty five years anniversary of The Methodist Theological Institute (MTI) Umuahia described the award as not only thoughtful, but a very challenging one that will spur him to do more in his transformation drive across the State.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu wondered what would have been the fate of the Nation if not for the intersessions from the Church and implored religious leaders not to relent in preaching and praying more for the country, expressing optimism that with God’s intervention,a better Nigeria will emerge for the good of all.

He congratulated the Methodist Theological Institute Umuahia on the celebration of their sixty five years of existence used in training and touching not only the spiritual and physical needs of the people, but have also contributed to improving the aesthetic beauty of the State.

The State Chief Executive used the Service to appreciate the Methodist Church Nigeria under the leadership of the Prelate for all the infrastructural transformation going on in the MTI and reassured them of Government’s continued support and partnership.

In his remarks shortly after receiving an  Excellent Legislative award, the member representing Ikwuano Umuahia Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo who described the honour as a reflection of his accomplishments in the Federal House of Representatives and the country said it will spur him to do more towards the transformation of MTI, the Church and humanity.

In his address, the Rector  MTI, The Very Rev Dr Uchenna Ugorie said God has raised the towers of the Institute through the years to enviable heights producing spiritually, academically and morally balanced men and women of God whose relevance cannot be ignored and called on all to donate generously towards the infrastructural development of MTI.

Presenting his address, the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Sir Anab Atulomah noted that when the 65 year old internationally acclaimed Theological Center infrastructurally take its rightful place, it will comfortably be the host of the first University of Theological Studies in Nigeria.

The former Governor and member representing Abia Central Senatorial Zone, Chief TA Orji was also honoured with an award as Grand Outstanding Leadership  received on his behalf by Chief Uche Akwukwuegbu while a retired Permanent Secretary and lay President of Methodist Church Nigeria, Chief Allen Okpokiri, The Very Rev Obinna Nwafor, Sir Rich Onyeaso, Archbishop of Umuahia Diocese, The Most Rev Dr Chibuzor Opoko among others were also honoured with Pinnacle Achievers awards witnessed by Top Government Officials, Aides of the Deputy Governor, the Clergy and other distinguished personalities.

  1. Award for what reason?.. Christianity and churches are among the big factors killing us igbos and the country at large… I have never see them stood on the truth… Full of compromise they are.
