The General Manager, Abia State Tourism Board, Queen Onyekachi Atulomah has inaugurated the Year 2022 World Tourism Day Celebration Committee with a charge for them to work together as a team to realize the set out goals.
Inaugurating the 11 man steering committee with Comrade Dimgba Ejeke as Chairman in her office in Umuahia, Queen Atulomah disclosed that the event which will come in two phases will feature Miss Tourism Beauty Pageant, Old School Day, Cultural Displays, Drama Presentations amongst others.
According to the General Manager, the Board is saddled with the mandate to look into the hospitality business of the State and to project the development of the tourism sector in the State.
Responding on behalf of the Committee, the Chairman, Comrade Dimgba Ejeke described while describing their task as a noble call to promote tourism in Abia State, also promised not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
Recall that World Tourism Day is commemorated each year on 27 September to foster awareness among the international community on the importance of tourism as well as its social, cultural, political and economic value.
This year’s theme for National Tourism Day is “Rural and Community Centric Tourism”.
