Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has expressed satisfaction with the progress on the Umuahia Mega Bus Terminal project, noting the satisfactory pace and quality of work completed thus far.

Governor Otti who made his feelings known while inspecting the construction site on Sunday, after a church service at Dunamis Church, Finbarrs Street, Umuahia, identified several areas where minor adjustments are needed.

“The contractors are performing admirably and adhering to the schedule,” said Governor Otti.

“However, I noticed a few areas requiring revisions, particularly with the road width and junction improvements.

I’ve instructed them to halt work around the Cooperative roundabout for further evaluation.”

“Overall, I’m pleased with the work done so far,” he added.

The Governor detailed that the terminal would mirror the Oshodi model in Lagos, aiming to integrate railway and bus services, alongside shopping centers, hotels, and recreational areas.

“This project will enhance city organization and consolidate various parks into a single, functional space. It’s designed to attract businesses with its provisions for hotels, shopping plazas, and playgrounds,” Governor Otti explained.

He acknowledged that while immediate financial returns might not be evident, the long-term benefits will be substantial, emphasizing the need for the capital city to reflect its status.

Earlier, at Dunamis Church, Governor Otti expressed gratitude for the congregation’s electoral support and reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing citizens’ welfare.

“A worthy government must focus on the people’s welfare,” Governor Otti said.

“Our administration is committed to ensuring that funds are utilized effectively for the benefit of the people.”

He added, “We are dedicated to using our resources wisely and ensuring transparency. Rest assured, as long as I am in office, your money will be used for your benefit, not squandered.”

In his sermon, Pastor Anthony Itodo emphasized that wisdom is crucial for stability, creativity, and effective decision-making.

Governor Otti was accompanied by the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Austin Okezie Nmeregini, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba and other top government officials.
