Government Begins Second Phase Of Masters Training For Teachers
ABIA – The State Government has kicked off the second phase of Master’s Trainers program for teachers in the state, aimed at ensuring better learning approach and quality teaching in the education sector.
Speaking while declaring the ten Days training program open at Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Central School, in Umuahia North Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi said that the essence of the training program is to build up the capacity of Abia teachers who he described as agents of transformation in society.
Elder Ubochi, who expressed confidence that the training program will go along way in boosting the morale and performance of Abia teachers as well as enhance effective teaching and learning, also reminded the master trainers that they were being trained to be able to teach other teachers.
The Commissioner further advised the participants to take the training program seriously, pointing out that the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has made adequate provision for the training exercise.
In her speech, the Executive Board Chairman, ASUBEB, Mrs Lydia Onuoha, described the training exercise as a welcome development, as well as lauded the Project Coordinator of ERIT, Mrs Chioma Obi-Osuji and her team for being partners in progress.
Contributing, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Sir Kenechukwu Nwosu and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Sir Ikechukwu Oriuwa, commended Governor Alex Otti for his magnanimity and for their training.
They thanked Elder Ubochi and Mrs. Onuoha for their efforts towards the success of the training program.
Responding, the State Auction Chairman, Mr. Ahamefula Nwabueze and Mr. Samuel Iroh described Dr Alex Otti as education friendly Governor and assured him of their commitment to support him in realizing his vision for the education sector in the state.
