Recalling the road’s initial construction in the 1960s by the administration of the late Dr. Michael Okpara, Governor Otti noted its significance as a crucial economic link for agriculture, commerce, and tourism. He expressed regret that the road had become a political bargaining chip for successive administrations and hoped the federal government would expedite its completion, given its potential to significantly boost both federal and state revenues.

In their remarks, Abia State Deputy Governor, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu and the representative for Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa praised Governor Otti’s initiative as a crucial step toward revitalizing the economy of Abia North senatorial zone.

Former Finance Minister, Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu and Eze Aro, Eze Eberechukwu Oji, commended the Governor for ending years of neglect for residents along the Arochukwu-Ohafia corridor. They assured that local stakeholders would fully support the contractors to ensure the project’s timely completion.

Commissioner for Works, Mr. Otumchere Oti stated that the road’s reconstruction would be a significant milestone in the socio-political development of Ohafia and Arochukwu, revitalizing local businesses.

The Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Chief David Ogba-Onuoha described the project as the beginning of a new era of progress under Governor Otti’s leadership, which is consistently opening avenues for greater prosperity and balanced development.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba among other top government officials attended the flag off ceremony.
