ABUJA – Security forces have dispersed protesters in the Karu area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, following multiple attempts to control the crowd.

The protesters had begun to assemble when law enforcement moved in, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

Eyewitness Ibrahim Sani reported that the police deployed tear gas to manage the situation before making the arrests. “I was surprised to see people gathering in Karu. I expected the protest to be in the city center. The police dispersed them with tear gas and arrested about three people,” Sani said.

Security personnel have been deployed throughout the capital to monitor the protests and maintain public order. Despite a noticeable increase in vehicle traffic on the fifth day of the nationwide protests, government offices remain largely empty.

The Federal Secretariat is open, but many officials from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are absent, likely due to concerns about potential clashes between protesters and security forces.

In a related development, security forces also used tear gas at Moshood Abiola Stadium to control a group of protesters demanding a move to the city center.
