Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has charged officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps to remain focused in it’s core objective of engendering effective leadership and professionalism of middle – level manpower in road safety administration.

Governor Otti who gave the charge at Government House Umuahia when he received FRSC officers from the FRSC Command and Staff College Course 2 participants who are in the state on study tour, restated his administration’s developmental efforts in improving road transportation infrastructures across the state.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba maintained that his administration will continue to partner relevant organizations in ensuring safety of commuters and motorists on Abia roads, and expressed optimism that the tour will expose the participants to practical experiences of theoretical concepts and knowledge as well as help them understand his administrations efforts in reducing road traffic crashes in the state in spite of challenging socio-economic environment.

The state Chief Executive commended the FRSC for the quality work they are doing in the state and assured that his administration will continue to partner relevant organizations for the overall good and development of the state.

In their speeches, the Commissioner for Transport, Comrade Sunny Onwuma, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, Fire and Emergency Services, Mr Chukwunenye Alajemba and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma while describing Governor Otti as a game changer and one that is committed to ensuring even development across the state, promised to continue to partner the FRSC in instilling discipline on road users.

In his address, the leader of the delegation and Deputy Corps Commander, FRSC Command and Staff College, Udi Enugu State, Corps Commander Joseph Udoabba while describing the college as the cradle of the nations contemporary education in road traffic administration and safety management, explained that the three-day visit to Abia by the Junior Course 2 participants is designed to enrich them with leadership and managerial skills.

Also speaking, the State Sector Commander of FRSC, Corps Commander F.A Ogidan attributed the achievements of the sector as a corporate organization to the synergy existing between the FRSC and the state government and applauded Governor Otti for providing the necessary infrastructures which has made their job easier.

In a vote of thanks, the General Manager, Abia State Traffic Management Agency, Col. Ezichi Kalu (rtd) thanked the FRSC Junior Course 2 participants for choosing Abia for this years tour and expressed the hope that their tour will imbue them with the appropriate management tools as they rejoin field command operations after graduation.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications, Mr Dodoh Okafor among other top government officials were present during the visit.
