by The one day sensitization/enlightenment workshop organized by the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board NCDMB has ended in the state with a charge on the participants to take advantage of the training.
Delivering his keynote address at Women Development Centre, Umuahia, the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board, Mr Simbi Kesiye Wabote represented by the Manager, Project Zonal Coordinator, Mr Joseph Adebayo, disclosed that the board which was established in 2010 is saddled with the responsibility of developing capacity of local supply chain for effective and efficient service delivery to the oil and gas industry without compromising standards as well as ensure the implementation of the provision of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Content Development, NOGICD, Act 2010.
Speaking while welcoming the participants, the Zonal Coordinator, NCDMB Imo/Abia, Dr Emmanuel Ohanyere said the essence of the workshop is to bring those at the grassroot up to speed with the activities of the board and how they can benefit from it.
In a paper presentation, the Supervisor NCDMB, Mr James Chukwuka said the Community Content Guideline was developed to engage youths meaningfully in host communities and establish critical infrastructure to stimulate development in host communities, sustain growth of host community entrepreneurs through funding and policy support.
Also speaking, a Senior Supervisor NCDMB, Mr Tare Bufazi disclosed that the Human Capacity Development interventions will cover direct trainings by NCDMD, operations, contractors and projects promoters, scholarships, entrepreneurship and empowerment.
In a vote of thanks, Mrs Obiageri Uzo thanked the participants for turning out en masse and implored them to make judicious use of all they have been taught.
Correspondent reports that the workshop which featured question and answer sessions attracted staff drawn from MDAs across the state.
