My administration is committed to the welfare of teachers in Abia – Gov. Ikpeazu

The Abia State Governor,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that his administration is committed to the welfare of teachers in the state.

Governor Ikpeazu who gave the assurance when he received in audience the National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers,Dr Nasiru Idris and the General Secretary of the union,Dr Mike Ike Ene at Government House Umuahia further assured that with the reforms undertaken in the finances of the state,teachers and other workers in the state will get their regular monthly salaries at as when due while efforts have been finalized on how to systematically deal with these arrears of salaries.

The State Governor promised that in the next couple of months,all arrears owed to teachers will be cleared while sustaining the regular monthly salaries and expressed gratitude to Abia teachers for their commitment and dedication which has kept the state on the top performing states list in WAEC exams in the country.

While restating his commitment to exposing teachers to modern trainings which will enhance their abilities to perform better,Governor Ikpeazu thanked the National leadership of the NUT for their support and understanding assuring them that his administration and the NUT will remain partners in progress.

Earlier,the NUT National President,Dr Nasiru Idris  told the Governor that they were in the state to rub minds with the Governor on issues affecting teachers in the state.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor,Dr A.C.B Agbazuere joined the Governor in receiving the NUT leaders to God’s own state.
